At Good Greek Moving & Storage, we believe moving is about more than trucks and boxes — it’s about families, safety, and trust. That’s why we’re proud to share that our Founder and CEO, Spero Georgedakis, recently represented both Florida and the national moving industry in Washington, D.C. during the American Trucking Associations’ (ATA) Moving & Storage Conference “Call on Washington” held September 9–11, 2025.
This annual event brings together lawmakers, regulators, and industry leaders to tackle the most important challenges facing U.S. household goods transportation. As a newly elected member of the MSC Executive Committee, Spero was honored to step into a national leadership role, lending his voice on behalf of movers, military families, and consumers across the country.
Advocating for Safer Roads & Smarter Policies
During the summit, Spero met with Senator Ashley Moody, Senator Rick Scott, Congressman Brian Mast, and Congresswoman Laurel Lee to discuss urgent reforms and protections for both the moving industry and the families it serves.
A central topic was the Safer Truckers Act, championed by Senator Moody. This legislation would establish stronger requirements for Commercial Driver’s Licenses (CDLs), including lawful U.S. residency and English proficiency. The goal is simple: make sure those operating heavy trucks on our nation’s highways meet the highest safety standards.
This reform became even more urgent following the tragic August 12th crash in St. Lucie County, Florida, where three lives were lost due to unsafe trucking practices. For us at Good Greek, founded right here in South Florida, this was a sobering reminder of why reform matters.
As Spero put it:
“Moving is one of life’s biggest transitions, and it must be done with professionalism, safety, and integrity. In Washington, I was proud to elevate the voices of movers and consumers across the country, advocating for reforms that safeguard communities, support our military families, and strengthen trust in our industry.”
Key Issues on the Hill
In addition to CDL reform, delegates worked to advance several priorities critical to families, service members, and the industry at large:
-
Uniform access standards at military bases to prevent delays during PCS (Permanent Change of Station) moves.
-
Improvements to the Defense Personal Property Program (DP3) following the termination of the Global Household Goods contract.
-
Support for the Household Goods Shipping Consumer Protection Act (H.R. 880/S. 337) to stop fraudulent movers and brokers.
-
Recognition of May 2025 as “Moving Month” (H. Res. 428), celebrating the skilled workforce that helps over 7.5 million Americans move across state lines each year.
Good Greek’s Commitment to Leadership
Beyond participating, Good Greek Moving & Storage also served as a conference sponsor, underscoring our commitment to raising standards of safety, accountability, and consumer protection across the relocation sector.
By amplifying these priorities, Spero highlighted not only the moving industry’s importance to the U.S. economy but also Good Greek’s role as a trusted partner for families, businesses, and military service members nationwide.
Growing Nationwide
While shaping policy in Washington, we’re also growing our footprint across America. Later this year, Good Greek Moving & Storage will expand into Las Vegas, Nevada, through partnerships with UNLV Rebels and the Vegas Golden Knights. We’re also preparing for additional expansion into the Midwest, continuing our mission to deliver our gold-standard Total Relocation Services nationwide.
This is more than growth — it’s a reflection of how far we’ve come. From our roots in South Florida to becoming a national voice for reform and integrity, Good Greek remains committed to delivering the “Best Move Ever” for families and businesses across the country.
